Disconnect to Connect! WHAT?? Disconnect to Connect!

by Elaine Mizuo

We all know that social media keeps us connected with our loved ones and keeps us informed about things going on around us. But are you letting it take over your life?

If you are a mother of young children, as you go through your day, try to balance your networking with your family.

Are you….

waking up and being absorbed in Snapchat?,,,,,

Are you….

taking your young child out in the stroller, but busy texting your friends?…..

Are you….

busy sending out afternoon Tweets?…

Are you….

on Instagram in the evening….

How about……

making sure your child is ready for the school day and leaves on a positive note?

How about…

putting your phone away and talking to your child? Helping them to discover the world around them. You will get to see the world through a child’s eyes.

How about…

asking about your child’s school day? They need to be able to talk to you about it.

How about……

putting your child to bed and reading a story together? One family calls it cuddle ops. Memories for a lifetime.

Texting, pinning, tweeting, and emailing are all a part of life today, but make sure it is not at the cost of ignoring your little ones. They will love you for it. Their growth and development. Their security and positivity rests on your interaction. And, you will not look back with regrets when they’re running out the door as young adults. Your memories will be forever in your heart and mind.
